Welcome to Selah, developed by Vusion Labs. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle data in our Bible companion application.
Our Core Principle: Selah is designed to serve you without knowing who you are. We do not collect personal information, and we cannot identify you as an individual.
Data We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect, store, or process:

Physical address

Date of birth

Payment information

Any other personally identifiable information (PII)
There is no user registration, no login, and no account creation.
Information We DO Collect
Device Identifier (UUID)
When you first open Selah, a random unique identifier (UUID) is generated and stored locally on your device. This UUID allows the app to provide personalized verse recommendations without knowing who you are.
What we know: A random string like 550e8400-e29b-41d4-a716-446655440000
What we don't know: That this belongs to you, specifically
Interaction Data
We collect anonymous usage data to improve recommendations:

Which Bible verses you view, like, or share
•
How long you spend reading each verse (in seconds)
•
Which emotions you engage with (e.g., "Depression," "Hope," "Peace")
•
Timestamps of interactions
This data is linked only to your UUID, not to you personally.
Device Permissions

Notifications (Optional): To send reminders or verse-of-the-day notifications (if you enable this feature)
•
Storage/Gallery Access (Optional): To save your backup QR code (containing your UUID) to your device gallery
We only request permissions when you use features that require them.
How We Use Your Data
We use interaction data to:

Recommend Bible verses based on emotions you engage with most
•
Personalize the emotion categories shown to you
•
Improve verse rankings (popular vs. new content)
•
Understand which verses resonate most with users collectively
We do NOT:
•
Sell your data to third parties
•
Use your data for advertising

Share your data with any external services
Data Storage and Security
•
Location: Your data is stored in a MySQL database hosted in the EU/GB region
•
Encryption: Data is transmitted securely using industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS)
•
Access Control: Only authorized Vusion Labs personnel have access to the database, and they cannot identify individual users
Data Retention and Deletion
User-Initiated Deletion
You can request deletion of your interaction data at any time by sending a delete request directly from the settings menu in the Selah app. Once requested, your associated interaction records will be permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days.
Inactive Users
Because we cannot identify inactive users (we don't know if a UUID belongs to someone who uninstalled the app or simply stopped using it), we do not automatically delete data based on inactivity.
Complete Removal
If you uninstall Selah, your UUID and all local data are removed from your device. Server-side interaction data remains unless you request deletion.
Backup and Export
You can export your UUID as a QR code and save it to your device gallery. This allows you to restore your personalized recommendations if you:

Reinstall the app
•
Switch to a new device
•
Clear app data
Important: Keep this QR code private. Anyone with access to it can restore your interaction history.
Third-Party Services
We currently do not use any third-party analytics, crash reporting, or advertising services.
If we integrate third-party services in the future, we will:

Notify users in-app
•
Ensure any third parties comply with our privacy standards
Children's Privacy
Selah is available to users aged 13 and older, or younger users with parental consent. Because we do not collect personal information, we comply with children's privacy regulations (such as COPPA and GDPR).
Parents: If you believe your child has used Selah and you wish to delete their interaction data, you can trigger a delete request directly from the app or contact us at [email protected].
International Users
Selah is available globally. By using the app, you consent to the transfer and storage of your anonymous interaction data in the EU/GB region, regardless of your location.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do:

The "Last Updated" date at the top will change

We will notify users in-app if changes are significant
•
Continued use of Selah after changes means you accept the updated policy
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights under data protection laws (such as GDPR). These include:

Right to Deletion: Request deletion of your data through the in-app delete request feature (records are removed within 30 days)
